The tropical garden in Funchal/Madeira
To be honest, it wasn’t our main intention to go and visit the tropical garden in Funchal - the main idea was to take a turn at the ‘traditional‘ Funchal basket sledges. But what was meant to be just a stop to spend some time, turned out quite nicely.
The tropical garden is set up in different levels with different sections (there is even an oriental section with a Japanese garden) and the best is to follow the path that takes you through all the sections. There is also a way around the garden which might be nice but we did option 1.
To get there you either take the cable car (which is quite expensive considering that it does not take you up that high) or - as we did - get up early and walk all the way up. Although it can be quite exhausting you can enjoy the nice view over funchal.
